About us

Local Roots. Personalized Care.

Meet Dr. Blake Overly | Kansas City Chiropractor

I’m Dr. Blake Overly, owner and chiropractic physician at Northland Spine and Rehabilitation. I grew up in the Northland of Kansas City and have lived in Clay County my entire life. Being able to build my practice and care for patients in the same community that raised me has been incredibly rewarding.

For more than a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to help patients from Kansas City, Gladstone, Liberty, North Kansas City, Parkville, Smithville, Kearney, and other surrounding communities. I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built with my patients and for the trust local families have placed in our office over the years.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Your first visit will begin with a consultation, a review of your health history, and a thorough examination. You’ll also have plenty of time to ask questions and discuss your concerns. If we determine that chiropractic care is appropriate for you, we can often provide your first treatment that same day.

X-rays can be helpful in certain situations, but we do not take them on every patient. We have digital X-ray available in our office, although imaging is not necessary for many common conditions and complaints. If you have previous X-ray or MRI reports, feel free to bring them with you for us to review.

No healthcare treatment is completely without risk, but chiropractic care is generally considered safe when it is provided after an appropriate health history and examination. Some patients may experience temporary soreness after treatment, similar to what you might feel after exercise. Of course, the side effect we hope you experience most is relief!

That depends on what brings you into the office, how long you’ve had the problem, its severity, and several other factors. It is impossible to know exactly how many treatments someone will need before seeing how they respond, which is why you will never be pressured into purchasing a long-term treatment plan.

Many common complaints begin responding within the first several visits when chiropractic care is an appropriate option. We will regularly evaluate your progress and make recommendations based on how you are actually doing.

We are in-network with many major health insurance carriers, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna, and Medicare. Because insurance plans and provider networks can change, we will help you verify your benefits before beginning treatment whenever possible.

We also see many patients who are uninsured or prefer to self-pay. Our rates are straightforward and reasonable—and depending on your plan, self-pay may sometimes cost less than using your health insurance.

In most cases, you do not need a referral to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor. Chiropractors are direct-access healthcare providers, meaning you can contact our office without first seeing your primary care physician.

When necessary, we can also refer you for diagnostic imaging or to other healthcare providers, including physical therapists, orthopedic specialists, pain-management physicians, and other specialists.

These are some of the most common complaints we treat in our office every day. Chiropractic care can be a good conservative starting point for many musculoskeletal conditions, although no form of healthcare can fix every problem.

We will always be honest about whether we believe we can help. If your condition is not responding as expected—or if another type of care would be more appropriate—we will help connect you with the right provider.
